Bab al-Rahma cemetery

Bab al-Rahma cemetery (Mercy Gate cemetery) is a muslim cemetery which extends along the eastern wall of the Esplanade of the Mosques.

The cemetery was probably initiated in the tenth century CE, although it is believed to host the graves of a number of companions of the prophet Muhammad and of muslim soldiers who participated in the battles of Jerusalem in the 7th and 12th centuries.

It is part of the pilgrimage trail for Muslim pilgrims in Jerusalem.
